Royal Canadian Air Cadets

Who are we?

Serving the youth and families of Oakville since 1951.

What is the Cadet Program?

The Cadet Program is the largest federally sponsored youth development program in Canada.

It is made up of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets, Royal Canadian Army Cadets, and Royal Canadian Air Cadets.

What does the Cadet Program offer?

The Cadet Program provides youth with opportunities to develop valuable life and work skills such as teamwork, leadership, and public speaking, along with personal benefits of increased self-confidence, discipline, initiative, and decision making.

What do Air Cadets learn?

In addition to the core aspects of the tri-element Cadet Program, Air Cadets focus on aviation topics such as principles of flight, navigation, radio communication, meteorology, and aerodrome operation.

Our Squadron also operates a large number of extra-curricular activities such as a military band, precision drill team, air rifle marksmanship team, flying scholarship preparation, and much more.

Who can join?

We welcome all Oakville youth within the ages of 12 – 18 years old.

Due to high demand for the program, we only accept new recruits at the start of September.

🤩 Whether it was their first time, or their fir

🤩 Whether it was their first time, or their first time in a long time, excitement filled the air as #540Cadets returned to in-person training — a sight that hasn’t been seen since March 2020.

⏱ With our COVID screening tent outside and our amazing #540IDCards, cadets were quickly welcomed to their first night of the training year.

📋 Our Staff Cadets went through the basics such as: introductions; how to wear their new FTUs; the COVID-19 safety procedures for our training location; and what to expect this upcoming Training Year.

🥳 One very exciting night down, many more to go!

1️⃣ Here at #540GoldenHawks, the safety of our cadets is our number one priority — especially as we return to in-person training.

📇 New this training year, we will be issuing all staff and cadets a scannable #540IDCard! These ID cards will help us with contactless attendance tracking — which will expedite the process to eliminate crowding upon entry. As well as efficient COVID-19 contact tracing.

🥳 This past Sunday, our #540StaffCadets had a miniature Commanding Officer’s parade to commemorate their hard work and effort that they achieved during the two-weekend PD workshop.

🧑‍🏫 Our newly graduated Staff Cadets are now ready to take what they learned and apply it in their classrooms as they instruct our cadets this upcoming training year.

🏆 As well during the parade, a few Level 5s were recognized for exceeding the standard during the workshop with a promotion to Flight Sergeant — congratulations!

Earlier this week, Lieutenant (Lt) Anthony Vukojev

Earlier this week, Lieutenant (Lt) Anthony Vukojevic received a certificate of recognition by the Air Cadet League of Canada for all of his dedication and hard work with our #540Squadron ✈️

Lt Vukojevic played a crucial role in leading 540’s transition to online training in 2020, and has been the driving force behind this year’s success. He has taken on many roles within the Squadron including Public Affairs, Training, and being a role model that cadets can look up to! He has been instrumental in the creation and management of the Awards Night and Change Of Command ceremonies, and has been actively woking with the 540 Squadron SSC to promote several successful online social media-based fundraising initiatives. Our community, cadets, staff, and volunteers thank Lieutenant Vukojevic for going above and beyond in 2020-2021!
